Wildcat Roar To Kickoff Basketball Season
Villanova, Pa.--- On Thursday, Oct. 29, the Villanova University men's and women's basketball teams will kickoff their seasons in style with the school's annual "Wildcat Roar" celebration.

Howard Brown, Wildcat MVP from last season, returns for his final year.

The 1998 theme, "Back in the Swing", will take place in the Jake Nevin Field House with doors opening on the Lancaster Avenue entrance at 6:30 p.m.
The Wildcats will get the evening swinging with the City Rhythm Orchestra, along with the Philadelphia 76er's College Tour shooting contest. During these festivities, Philadelphia's Y-100 radio will have live radio remote and giveaways outside the Field House.

Senior point guard and team leader, Shanette Lee, will direct the Wildcat Women.

Ex-Villanova basketball great and current voice of the Wildcats Whitey Rigsby will serve as the master of ceremonies. Rigsby will introduce the 1998-99 version of both the man's and women's basketball teams, with the introductions being accompanied by a video on each team.

Senior John Celestand posted a 13.2 ppg average last season.

This magical night will also include a swing dance contest with the winners getting free USAirways tickets, a $5,000 half-court shootout, as well as a state-of-the art laser show and a surprise high energy entertainment performance straight from California.
