VILLANOVA, Pa. - Kristy Olivo and Heather Bryan combined for nine goals to help Monmouth escape Villanova Stadium with a 14-13 victory over the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon. Senior Meghan Doyle (Cockeysville, Md.) scored four goals, including her 100th college goal, in defeat for the Wildcats.

Monmouth built an early 4-1 lead before ten minutes had elapsed in the first half. But VU rallied as Liz Kenny her second goal of the half. Then Doyle broke into the scoring column with her 25th of the season and 100th of her career at Villanova. Another Doyle goal tied the score at four. The two teams ended the first half tied at seven.

The game remained tight for the balance of the afternoon. The Hawks built a 12-9 edge with 16:48 left in the second half on a goal by Jessica Salvesen. However, Villanova responded with with three straight goals to knot matters at 12. Goals by Olivo and Bryan gave MU a two goal edge and the Hawks held on despite a late goal by VU freshman Sarah DePeters.

Villanova is now 3-3 on the season, 1-1 in the Patriot League. Monmouth improves its record to 5-1.
