VILLANOVA, Pa. - Brian Lynch, a 6-6 guard who led the Big East in 3-point field goal shooting percentage as a Villanova junior in 1998-99, has been selected to join the Nike NIT All-Stars for a tour of Austria and the Czech Republic. The All Stars will play 10 games in a 13 day span, including one against the Czech National Under 20 team.
Lynch averaged 10.4 ppg in 1998-99, starting all 32 games for the Wildcats. His 3-point field goal shooting percentage (.414) marked a career-best in that category.
"We are very proud that Brian has been asked to participate on the Nike NIT All Star Tour," said head coach Steve Lappas. "It is an opportunity that should prove beneficial to him."
Joining Lynch on the Nike NIT All Stars are guards Keith Friel (Virginia), Jason Harris (Fordham), Erick Barkley (St. John's), forwards Chris Porter (Auburn), Kris Lang (North Carolina), Etan Thomas (Syracuse), and centers Loren Woods (Arizona), Nate Althoff (Utah) and Adam Allenspach (Clemson). The team is coached by former Manhattan College guard George Bucci.
The team will travel to New York for training camp at Manhattan College from Aug. 1-5. On Aug. 5 it will depart from John F. Kennedy Airport for Vienna.
