VILLANOVA, PA. ? In their home debut, the Villanova Wildcats didn't disappoint the fans, handing Bucknell a 3-1 defeat. Nova controlled the first two games 15-7, 15-4, but Bucknell rallied back to take the third 15-13. Villanova ended the match with a 15-10 victory, as the ?Cats improve to 3-5, while the Bison drop to 4-3 with the season.
Leading the Wildcats were Breen Eddinger and Tina Zitterich, who each knocked down 10 kills apiece. Freshman Leah Mathews tallied 11 digs, while Stacey Moline dished out 25 assists. Brooke Bader recorded a game-high 15 kills for the Bison in the loss.
Villanova will hit the road again this weekend as the Wildcats travel to Fort Worth, Texas for the TCU Invitational on Sept. 17 and 18. Nova will play four games in the round robin tournament format. Other schools participating in the event are Colgate, West Texas, Stephen F. Austin and the host institution, Texas-Christian. Villanova will return to the Main Line on Sept. 22 to take on Delaware.
