Volleyball Drops Two at TCU Invitational

On Saturday, Sept. 18, in the second day of the TCU Invitational at Fort Worth, Texas, the Villanova volleyball team lost its final two matches of the tournament to fall to 4-7 overall on the season. In their first match of the day, the Wildcats lost to Stephen F. Austin 3-0 (15-13, 15-13, 15-9). The second match of the day saw the 'Cats fall to the host TCU Horned Frogs 3-0 (15-5, 15-2, 15-10).

In Villanova's first match of the afternoon, junior middle blocker Tina Zitterich had a team-high 10 kills. Fellow junior Breen Eddinger followed Zitterich's effort with an eight-kill performance, while senior setter Stacey Moline had 30 assists.

Against TCU later in the day, the Wildcats lost three straight games, despite five kills apiece by Eddinger, and freshman Erin Birunas. Freshman outside hitter Leah Matthews had a game-high 11 digs for Villanova.

Eddinger was named to the TCU Invitational All-Tournament Team, for her outstanding performance throughout the two-day tournament. She finished the TCU Invitational with 28 kills, eight digs, two block solos and one block assist in Villanova's three matches.

The Wildcats will get back into action on Wednesday, Sept. 22, as they play host to the University of Delaware at 7:00 p.m.
