VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) - Brett Gordon threw three first-half touchdowns and Brian Westbrook scored twice as Villanova routed Norfolk St., 42-0, in the first ever meeting between the two teams.

On Villanova's first possession, Westbrook, who rushed for 101 yards on 11 carries, broke free for a 56-yard scamper before scoring on a 17-yard run on the next play for an early 7-0 advantage.

Gordon, who completed 8 of 11 passes for 207 yards before he left midway through the third quarter, connected with Duc Augustin on a 43-yard scoring strike in the final minutes of the first quarter for a 14-0 lead. He later connected with Westbrook on a 41-yard screen pass for a score and then hit Murle Sango on a 9-yard touchdown pass.

Villanova (2-1) closed out the scoring in the first half when Steve Neugebauer returned an interception 45 yards for a 35-0 advantage.

Villanova needed just seven plays for its opening three scores, which were produced in a combined time of 96 seconds. Norfolk State (1-2) had a longer time of possession than Villanova, 38:20 to 21:40, but was hurt by three interceptions. It also had trouble converting on third down, finishing 4 for 18 on third down.

Norfolk St. was penalized 15 times for 131 yards.
