Diary Entry No. 2 Swimmers here in Australia are definitely a lot better known than they are at home and in other countries. We are treated differently- not quite like movie stars but the people here sure are big fans. They all know their home team and the Australian team gets a huge amount of press. Everyday in the sports is an article about one swimmer or another. It is pretty impressive.
Arriving in Sydney was awesome and the people here have treated us all very well. It was exciting getting the chance to swim for the United States and represent my country. The competition is incredible and the people are great.
The whole Sydney experience has been one that I will never forget.
