SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Villanova women's swimming and diving opened the 2025-26 season with a 168-54 victory against Seton Hall on Friday evening. The Wildcats finished the meet with 13 event victories and 31 top-three finishes across swimming and diving.
Villanova set the tone early with a 1-2 finish in the 200-medley relay.
Kayla Bolster,
Winnie Jalet,
Arabella Lee and
Riley Kudlac touched first in 1:44.24. The B relay of
Alana Leen,
Imogen Duffy,
Anna Kilponen and
Amylia Higgins placed second in 1:47.55.
The Wildcats swept the top three spots in several events, including the 200 Free, with
Marlene Blanke taking the win in 1:54.03, followed by Leen (1:54.81) and
Riley Hull (1:55.16).
Carlota Colomer Guasch secured a victory in the 50 Free in 24.01, while Kudlac claimed the 100 Free in 52.36. Kudlac was followed by
Alyssa McHale (53.20) and
Sasha Schratwieser (53.75), who finished second and third, respectively.
In the 200 IM,
Anna Farley earned first in 2:06.62.
Annie Honkamp finished third in 2:10.13 and
Peri Gaguzis took fourth in 2:11.21. Villanova also swept the 100 Fly, led by Lee (56.42), followed by
Martina Lonati (57.35) and
Emily Herr (57.36). Bolster took first in the 100 backstroke (56.69), followed by Kilponen (59.79) and Duffy (1:00.01) in another 1-2-3 Villanova sweep.
Meghan Tiernan took first in the 500 Free (5:05.10), with Hull (5:07.02) and
Amylia Higgins (5:09.39) placing second and third. Jalet added another win in the 100 Breast (1:05.23), with Herr (1:06.36) finishing second and Colomer Guasch (1:07.74) third.
Villanova dominated diving as
Michelle Kasulka took first in both the 1-meter (245.10) and 3-meter (242.25) events. The Wildcats swept the top five spots on 1-meter, with
Katie Vaughan (236.02) and
Meghan Scott (230.62) placing second and third.
Alexa Fegley (235.95) and
Caroline Blankenbecler (234.23) joined Kasulka in the top three on 3-meter.
The women are back in the pool tomorrow as they take on UConn.
