Villanova, Pa.- On September 22nd, the Villanova Wildcat Volleyball team traveled to the Bucknell University for the Subway Classic. In their first match of the two-day invitational, Villanova defeated Canisius College 3-0, by the scores of 15-12, 15-1, 15-2.

Leading the way for the Wildcats were seniors Tina Zitterich (Ames, Iowa/Gilbert), nine kills, and Ruth Ann Blankenheim (Lighthouse Point, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons), eight kills. Quarterbacking the offense for Zitterich and Blankenheim was standout freshman Jennifer Edwards (Valencia, Calif./Valencia), who tallied 21 assists in the victory.

Defensively, Blankenheim recorded 10 digs, while Zitterich owned the net, tallying four block solos and one block assist.

Villanova improves to 4-9 on the year, while Canisius falls 2-9. The Wildcats will be in action tomorrow at 2:30 PM against Marist and at 4:00 PM against the host Bucknell Bison.
