Wildcat Football Announces Staff Changes

Feb. 6, 2001

Villanova University head football coach Andy Talley today announced the hiring of three new members of the Wildcat coaching staff. The newcomers to the staff include defensive backs coach Mark Reardon, running backs coach Apollo Wright and defensive assistant Kevin Kelly. Reardon replaces Clayton Carlin who accepted a job at the University of Buffalo, while Wright replaces Stan Drayton who left Villanova for Bowling Green State University.

Reardon comes to Villanova from Lafayette College where he was an assistant from 1998-2000. Most recently, Reardon was Lafayette's secondary coach, recruiting coordinator and specials teams coordinator. Reardon has also coached at Siena College and the University at Albany. As a player, he was a four-year letter winner and two-time All-Patriot League performer at Lafayette.

Wright arrives on the Main Line from LaSalle University where he was a defensive backs coach from 1999-2000. Wright began his coaching career at Wagner College in 1999 as an assistant defensive backs coach. Wright played his collegiate ball at Cheyney University where he was a two-year starter at quarterback.

Prior to arriving at Villanova, Kelly was an assistant defensive line coach at Rutgers University for the 2000 season. Before his one-year stint at Rutgers, Kelly was the running backs coach at the University of Stony Brook from 1998-2000. A 1998 graduate of Siena College, Kelly was team captain and a four-year lettermen for the Saints.
