Villanova, Pa. - Villanova junior forward Michael Bradley declared his intention to enter his name into the pool of candidates for the 2001 National Basketball Association draft today.
"This is an opportunity I feel I have to pursue," Bradley said. "It's always been my goal to play in the NBA and I am ready to go for it. I want to thank my coaches and teammates for all of the help they gave me here at Villanova."
Bradley averaged 20.8 points and 9.8 rebounds a game for the Wildcats in 2000-2001. In addition, he established a new school field goal percentage accuracy mark by connecting on .692 of his field goal attempts. The native of Worcester, Mass., was a second team All-American choice of the United States Basketball Writers Association, The Sporting News and Basketball Times. He was also a unanimous selection on the All-Big East Conference first team.
The first two seasons of Bradley's college career were spent at the University of Kentucky. The 6-10 product of Burncoat High School was a member of Kentucky's 1998 NCAA championship team and broke that school's record for field goal accuracy (.657) during the 1998-99 campaign. Bradley transferred to Villanova in the summer of 1999 and sat out the 1999-00 season per NCAA rules.
