TNT Sports to Debut '4.7 Seconds to the Championship' Tonight

A special look back at the 2016 NCAA Championship Game

TNT Sports will premiere 4.7 Seconds: For the Championship, a new 30-minute special — produced in conjunction with Glen Owen and State Line Films — revisiting the unforgettable finish of the 2016 NCAA Men's Basketball National Championship game, on Monday, March 16 at 9:15 p.m. ET on truTV.

The special will also be available on demand on HBO Max throughout the duration of the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship, and will also re-air on Saturday, March 28 on TBS after the conclusion of TNT Sports and CBS Sports' NCAA Men's Elite 8 coverage that night.

4.7 Seconds: For the Championship examines the riveting, pressure-packed final moments of what many have described as the greatest ending in Final Four history. Through firsthand accounts from the coaches and players at the center of the action, the special takes viewers inside one of the most dramatic conclusions college basketball has ever seen.

With just 4.7 seconds remaining in the 2016 title game, North Carolina's Marcus Paige hit a miraculous double-clutch three-pointer to tie the score, seemingly sending the championship to overtime. Moments later, Villanova's Ryan Arcidiacono raced up the court and found Kris Jenkins, whose game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer delivered the Wildcats their first national championship in more than three decades and etched the sequence into college basketball lore.

The special features reflections and behind-the-scenes insights from the key figures who experienced the moment firsthand, including Hall of Fame coaches Jay Wright and Roy Williams, and players Kris Jenkins, Marcus Paige, and Ryan Arcidiacono.

Adding perspective to the iconic moment are studio analysts Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith, along with the game's broadcast team of Jim Nantz, Bill Raftery and Grant Hill. As part of the TNT Sports and CBS Sports joint presentation of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, the voices who helped bring the 2016 championship to fans across the country revisit the unforgettable finish.

Through archival footage, player and coach interviews, and expert commentary, 4.7 Seconds: For the Championship captures the tension, preparation and split-second decisions that produced one of the most unforgettable sequences in the history of the NCAA Men's Tournament.
