Villanova Names Snell Assistant Coach

May 8, 2001

Villanova University head women's basketball coach Harry Perretta today announced the hiring of Mary Beth Snell as an assistant coach. Snell replaces Denise Dillon who resigned last month to become the top assistant at Drexel University.

"I am excited that Mary Beth will be joining our staff," said Perretta. "Having been a player here, she understands everything there is to know about the program. I think Mary Beth will excel in this position."

Snell is no stranger to the Villanova program, as she played for the Wildcats from 1996-2000. During her senior season in 1999-2000, she started 14 of the 30 games she played in and finished third on the team in three-point field goals made with 26.

After graduating from Villanova in May of 2000 with a marketing degree, Snell worked a year for Strategic Management Group (SMG) in Philadelphia. A Philadelphia native, Snell graduated high school from Nazareth Academy in 1996. She joins Associate Head Coach Joe Mullaney and assistant coach Shanette Lee as members of Perretta's staff.
