Wright Way: Entering tonight's game with Temple, senior Ricky Wright had scored 999 points in his Main Line career and needed only one point to eclipse the 1,000 point plateau. With 8:25 remaining in the first half Wright caught a perfectly placed lob pass and laid in the basket to reach 1,000 points in his career. Wright becomes the 46th Wildcat to accomplish 1,000 points in his career and he currently stands in 26th place in Villanova history for rebounding with 591.
All Aboard: This season the Wildcats have been especially proficient on the glass as they have out rebounded their opponents by an average of 11.3 per game. Against Temple the trend continued as the 'Cats grabbed 43 caroms while the Owls only tallied 36. Six Wildcats grabbed at least four rebounds against Temple, with guard Randy Foye leading the way with nine. Ricky Wright and Jason Fraser were not far behind as the pair grabbed seven and eight boards respectively.
Freshmen Fury: The combination of Randy Foye, Allan Ray, Curtis Sumpter, and Jason Fraser have played an integral role for the Wildcats in their rookie campaign. Against Temple the foursome shined as a group compiling 42 points, 22 rebounds, and 8 assists. On the season Villanova freshmen account for 32.2 points per game, 17 rebounds per game, and 5.6 assists per outing.
Three Point Woes: Both Temple and Villanova struggled from beyond the arc as the Owls made only 29.6 percent of their three's while the Wildcats hit only 26.1 percent. Despite the poor shooting neither squad hesitated to shoot from three as Villanova was 6-23 for three and Temple was 8-27.
