PRINCETON, N.J. - After day one of the 2002 Princeton Swimming & Diving Invitational on Friday, Dec. 6, in Princeton N.J., the Villanova swimming & diving team was third overall. The Wildcat women ranked second (212 pts.) after day one, while the Villanova men were fifth (118 pts.) in the standings.
Leading the combined standings after the first day of competition was Princeton with 686 points, followed by Rutgers (354) and Villanova (330). In the women's competition, the Wildcats were in second place, 117 points behind first place Princeton (329). In the men's standings, Villanova ranked fifth behind Princeton (357), Rutgers (152), St. John's (152), and American (118).
In the women's 500 yard freestyle on Friday, the Wildcats finished the race one-two as junior Rebecca Koch won the race in 4:47.31 and senior Maddy Crippen placed second in 4:48.79.
In the women's 200 yard individual medley, Kiersten Rosenberg finished in second place with a time of 2:04.31, while Katie Shipe placed seventh in 2:09.09.
In women's relay competition, the Villanova team of Tori Delollo, Charysse Johnston, Rosenberg and Koch finished first with a winning time of 3:50.28.
Two Wildcat women placed back-to-back in the three-meter dive with Julie Rhines (194.43) placing 12th, and Amy Sfara (192.24) finishing 13th.
For the Villanova men, two Wildcats had top eight finishes on day one. Pete Klimas was seventh in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.15, while Andrew Harbuck was eighth in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 1:58.54
