Villanova Athletics is proud to present the Villanova P.A.W.S program: Providing Athletes With Support. The P.A.W.S. program helps to ensure the best quality experience for Villanova student-athletes, both in the classroom and on the playing fields. Wildcat student-athletes represent the best in athletic and academic achievements, and Villanova is proud to recognize these student leaders.
This week's P.A.W.S. honors go to Wildcat junior Matt Chila, a liberal arts major and football standout from Ocean City, N.J., and Ocean City High School. Matt, a starting tight end for the `Cats, was the lone Villanova football player selected as a first team Preseason All-Atlantic 10 Conference performer at the annual Atlantic 10 Conference Media Day on Aug. 1. Last season, Chila put together an outstanding sophomore campaign. He caught 15 passes for 136 yards and three touchdowns and was named an Atlantic 10 All-Conference second team selection for his efforts. Chila and the Wildcats will open up the 2002 season on Aug. 31 at they travel to Rutgers to take on the NCAA Division I-A Rutgers Scarlet Knights at 7:00 p.m.
We congratulate Matt on his achievements, and proudly support the Villanova P.A.W.S. program. For additional information regarding P.A.W.S., contact Villanova University at (610) 519-4605.
