Villanova University junior free safety Raymond Ventrone was named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in last Saturday's 38-14 win over James Madison. In the win, Ventrone tallied seven solo tackles and a fumble recovery. Ventrone, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., and a graduate of Chartiers Valley High School, is currently third on the team in tackles with 36.

Ventrone and the Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Oct. 11 with a road game at the University of Rhode Island. Kickoff is set for noon. Villanova is currently 5-0 overall and 3-0 in Atlantic 10 Conference play. The Wildcats are ranked No. 3 in the latest Division I-AA Top 25.
