Fouling Around: Villanova had a foul prone first half that saw the Wildcats commit 15 personal fouls. West Virginia entered the bonus with 12:30 left in the half and spent a good portion of the first half shooting an automatic two foul shots. Jason Fraser sat out most of the first with three early fouls. The second half saw much of the same as both teams entered the bonus and the Wildcats finished with 31 fouls on the day.

Trouble from Deep: The first half against West Virginia spelled trouble from three-point range. The 'Cats couldn't make a shot from deep as they went 0-10 to begin the game while the visiting Mountaineers knocked down three. The second half began as a different story, as Villanova came out of the gates with two quick three pointers. The Wildcats finished the game shooting an abysmal 23.1% from three. West Virginia shot a respectable 43% from deep as they hit 6-14 three pointers.

On the Glass: This season the Wildcats have out rebounded their opponents by nearly nine rebounds per game. Against West Virginia the 'Cats struggled on the glass as the Mountaineers grabbed 34 caroms to the Villanova 32. Individually Ricky Wright who grabbed seven boards led the Wildcats, and Chaz Briggs paced the Mountaineers with eight caroms.

Mountaineer Heat: West Virginia was sizzling from the field against the 'Cats. The Mountaineers shot an impressive 64.1% from the field and connected on 35-42 free throws for 83.3%. West Virginia's field goal percentage was the highest against the Wildcats so far this season. As for Villanova they made only 41.1% of their field goals and 70.8% of their free throws. Drew Schifino led the Mountaineer charge with 11-17 shots from the field and finished with a game high 31 points. Ricky Wright tallied 21 points for the Wildcats on 7-10 shooting to pace the 'Cats.
