Villanova sophomore Martin "Moe" Gibson was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his play in last Saturday's 48-14 win at New Hampshire. The award was announced by the conference office on Sunday, Sept. 14.
In the win, Gibson returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. This is his second kickoff return for a score of his career. In last year's first round playoff win over Furman, Gibson returned a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown.
In addition to his kickoff return, Gibson had 11 carries for 100 yards and two touchdowns. His three touchdown day represents a career-high.
Gibson and the Wildcats have a bye this Saturday. Villanova returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 27 when Northeastern visits the Main Line for a 12:30 p.m. game.
