Villanova head coach Jay Wright on the final possession:
"We had two shooters in that situation, and we gave Randy (Foye) the choice on what he wanted to do with it."
Wright on his team's 3-point shooting effort (3-for-20):
"That's the second game we haven't shot the three well, and maybe it is because people are getting up on us. That team (Rutgers) had good length defensively, so I have to give them credit."
Wright on his team at this point in the season:
"We have to demand from these guys that they play at the level of experienced players. That is our goal."
Rutgers head coach Gary Waters:
"You have to do three things to win games on the road. You have to hit free throws, avoid turnovers and defend. Tonight we only did one of those three (defend), but we were able to get the win."
"This is a big step for us. We needed it for our psyche, our total makeup. This was a good one to win because the kids now feel they can play on the road after beating a team like this."
Villanova sophomore guard Allan Ray:
"I agree with what Coach Wright says, that we have to become more consistent. We have to go out there every game and do the right thing."
