PHILADELPHIA, PA. - The Villanova women's tennis team lost its spring opener to Richmond, 7-0, on Friday afternoon at Pennsylvania. The Wildcats fall to 6-1 with the loss, while the Spiders moved to 3-3.

Candice Carlin, Courtney Flezzani, Erica Walter and Jessie Rybacki each fell in straight sets, while Melissa Reed and Leighann Reilly battled to three-set decisions.

The Spiders also swept all three doubles matches on the day.

Villanova returns to action on March 1 at Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego.
