VILLANOVA, Pa. - Alvin Williams (class of 1997) scored 16 points to help lead the Blue team to a 78-73 victory over the White Team in the featured Villanova Pros game at the Pavilion on Monday night. The event was the culmination of the 2004 Summer Jam at the University.
In the first game of the Alumni twinbill played earlier in the evening, the White posted a 28-25 victory over the Blue in the annual Villanova Legends contest. Marty Caron (class of 1980) paced the winners with 10 points.
Williams, now a member of the National Basketball Association's Toronto Raptors, connected on seven of his 12 field goal attempts, including a pair of 3-point field goals. Recent graduates Andrew Sullivan (class of 2003) and Derrick Snowden (class of 2004) added 12 points while Dwayne McClain (class of 1985) contributed 13 points. Current Wildcat assistant coach Ed Pinckney (class of 1985) paced the winners with eight rebounds.
The White team was led by Jason Lawson (class of 1997) and Ricky Wright (class of 2003), each of whom scored 14 points. Tim Thomas of the New York Knickerbockers added 11 points, including a pair of impressive slam dunks that wowed the Pavilion crowd.
The Blue held a 44-36 edge at halftime and extended that lead to double digits early in the second half. A late run by the White squad was not enough to reverse the outcome.
