VILLANOVA, Pa. -Eleven games against squads that participated in the 2004 NCAA Tournament highlight the 2004-05 Villanova University men's basketball schedule released today.
The University of Kansas makes its first visit to face the Wildcats in Philadelphia when the two teams meet at the Wachovia Center on Jan. 22. The Center will also host attractive matchups against Notre Dame on Jan. 26 and Syracuse on Feb. 12.
The Pavilion will play host to 13 regular season games. The 20th anniversary of the 1985 NCAA championship encounter will be celebrated on Jan. 15 when the Georgetown Hoyas make their first Big East visit to the Villanova campus. In February, 2004 NCAA invitees Providence (Feb. 5), Pittsburgh (Feb. 20) and Boston College (Feb. 23) will meet the `Cats at the Pavilion. Another 2004 NCAA Tournament participant, Seton Hall, will play the final regular season home date at the Pavilion on March 2.
Villanova travels to meet 2004 NCAA champion Connecticut on Feb. 2. There will also be Big East road dates at Notre Dame (Jan. 8), Providence (Jan. 11), Boston College (Jan. 19), Rutgers (Jan. 29), Seton Hall (Feb. 17), Georgetown (Feb. 27) and St. John's (Mar. 5). Big East play opens on Jan. 5 at the Pavilion against West Virginia.
The famed Palestra will be the site of three Villanova Philadelphia Big Five contests in 2004-05: Temple (Dec. 4), La Salle (Dec. 11) and Saint Joseph's (Feb. 7). Villanova's other Big Five encounter will take place against the University of Pennsylvania at the Pavilion on Dec. 31.
The 2004-05 campaign gets underway for the Wildcats on Nov. 23 against UMBC at the Pavilion.
