LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Villanova built a three-touchdown halftime lead and coasted to a 38-10 win over Bucknell on Saturday.
Frank Jankowski threw three touchdowns passes - two to John Dieser - and ran for another score to lead Villanova (3-3). J.J. Outlaw added a 63-yard touchdown run and a short touchdown catch as Villanova easily handled the overmatched Bison.
Will Carney booted a 42-yard first-half field goal for Bucknell (1-5) and quarterback Dante Ross scored on a 16-yard run in the final seconds to get the Bison into double digits.
Outlaw opened the scoring with his long run and Joe Marcoux kicked a 33-yard field goal in the first quarter for the Wildcats. Jankowski scored on a 1-yard plunge early in the second to give Villanova all the points it would need.
Jankowksi tossed a 6-yard touchdown pass to Dieser in the first half then threw two more after the break.
Jankowski finished 15-for-20 for 234 yards and Martin Gibson led the Wildcats on the ground with 148 yards on just 11 carries.
Ross rushed for 119 yards on 30 carries to lead Bucknell, but was ineffective through the air. Ross, a defensive back pressed into service at quarterback after a series of injuries at that position, was 6-for-13 passing for 69 yards.
Villanova outgained Bucknell 469 to 256 in total yards.
