Oct. 19, 2005

VILLANOVA, Pa. -Villanova senior Chris Charles (Milwaukee, Wisc./Crispus Attucks Youth Build) will undergo arthroscopic wrist surgery tomorrow in Philadelphia to repair ligament damage in his left wrist. The surgery will be performed by noted hand specialist Dr. Randall Culp.

Charles injured the wrist in a fall during the first days of practice. An assessment on the length of his absence will be made following surgery.

"We all feel for Chris," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "He is a great young man. We know with his mental toughness that he will rebound quickly from this setback to make a positive contribution to our team."

In 2004-05 Charles made four starts and appeared in 20 games, averaging 1.8 points and 1.5 rebounds per outing.
