VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova Swimming and Diving program will head west for a solid week of training during the upcoming fall break. The Wildcats will focus on training as well as taking some time off from classes and swimming in a new environment.
On Saturday October 8th, the team will begin two training sessions per day at the University of Utah. The squad will train both indoors at the Dee Glen Smith Center, and outdoor with sessions at a community 50-meter facility.
The athletes will also be forced to experience the effects of altitude training with Salt Lake City's 5,000 ft. elevation.
"This is a great opportunity for our athletes as we take a break from classes and focus on hard training," said Head Coach Rick Simpson. "Our athletes are really excited about having the opportunity to compete against two powers from the Mountain West Conference."
The training camp will conclude as the Wildcats compete in the annual Don Reddish Relays at the Ute Natatorium with The University of Utah and Brigham Young University. The meet will take place on Thursday October 13, 2005 at 8 p.m. ET.
