Bacchus Earns Atlantic 10 Honors

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova University junior free safety Allyn Bacchus has been named Atlantic 10 Co-Defensive Player of the week. Bacchus earns the honor after recording nine tackles, three tackles for loss, three pass break-ups and a sack in last Saturday's 35-21 upset of No. 9 William & Mary.

Entering play last Saturday, William & Mary was averaging 436.9 yards of total offense per game and 40.0 points per contest. Bacchus and the Wildcat defense held the Tribe to just one offensive touchdown and 232 yards of total offense. Two of William & Mary's touchdowns were as a result of interception returns for touchdowns.

Bacchus has started all 30 games of his Villanova career and is currently second on the team and third in the Atlantic 10 Conference in total stops with a career-high 84. He has led Villanova in tackles in three of the eight games this year, including a career-best 15 tackles at Richmond on Oct. 8.

Villanova returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 5 with a road game at Towson. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
