VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova University senior linebacker Brian Hulea has earned multiple All-American honors for his play this past season. Hulea garnered first team All-American distinction from the Sports Network and AFCA (American Football Coaches Association) and he was also named to the Walter Camp All-American Team.
"Brian Hulea is an All-American both on and off the football field. Brian's career was simply spectacular," said Wildcat head coach Andy Talley. "He is one of the greatest defensive players to ever play at Villanova."
A 6-1, 235 pound linebacker, Hulea led the Atlantic 10 and was third in Division I-AA in tackles in 2005 with 135. He also tallied four tackles for loss, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. During his final collegiate game, Hulea became the all-time tackle leader in the history of Villanova football with 431 career stops.
In addition to his All-American honors, Hulea was named first team All-Atlantic 10 for the third consecutive season. He is also a three-time member of the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team and was chosen as the Philadelphia Inquirer Football Academic Performer of the Year.
