PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior linebacker Brian Hulea (Canfield, Ohio) and freshman linebacker Darrel Young (Amityville, N.Y.) both earned Atlantic 10 accolades for their efforts in last Saturday's 38-20 win over Northeastern. Hulea was named Atlantic 10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week, while Young was awarded the Atlantic 10 Special Teams Player of the Week.
In the win, Hulea tallied a game-high 14 tackles, two fumble recoveries, including one for a touchdown, to go with one interception, a pass break-up and a tackle for loss. Following his second consecutive 14 tackle game, Hulea now has 314 career tackles to his credit which rates as the most of any active player in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Hulea was also selected to the I-AA.org All-Star team for his performance versus Northeastern.
Young blocked a first quarter punt and recovered it in the endzone for Villanova's first touchdown in the victory over Northeastern. The block marked Villanova's first blocked punt since Nov. 16, 2002 versus Rhode Island. Young also added two tackles.
The 1-1 Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Sept. 24 with a game versus the University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and can be seen live on CN8.
