Wildcats Garner Six Victories at Widener Invitational

West Chester, Pa. - At this past weekend's Widener Invitational, the Villanova men and women's track teams came away with six victories on a day of less than ideal weather conditions.

Leading the women's team was Yolanda Malcolm who won the 100m hurdles in a Big East qualifying time of 14.12. Arusha McKenzie won the 400m hurdles in 63.15, also a Big East qualifying mark. Freshman Thelma Akpan kept things going in the field events and won the high jump with an outdoor best of 1.67m to improve on her Big East qualifying mark.

On the men's side, Drew Eckman led the way with a comfortable 53.12 in the 400m hurdles. Patrick Gazzini finished second in the same race in a season best and Big East qualifying time of 53.93. Robert McDade showed his versatility by winning the hammer throw in a Big East qualifying throw of 52.01m.
