Morgan Advances to Semifinals in 100 Meter Hurdles

100 Meter Hurdles Preliminary Results

SACRAMENTO, Calif.-- Junior hurdler Monique Morgan (Kingston, Jamaica) has advanced to the semifinals of the 100 meter hurdles on the first day of competition at the 25th Annual Women's NCAA National Championship. Running in the second of four preliminary heats, Morgan registered a time of 13.33 to place second in her heat and seventh overall out of 30 competitors. The semifinals take place later Wednesday evening at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex in Sacramento, Calif.

The top three runners in each heat and the six runners with the next fastest times in the preliminaries make up the group of 18 participants in the semifinals. From the semifinals, the top four runners in each heat and the next best time will advance to the finals on Friday evening.

Morgan entered the national championship meet seeded 10th in the nation in the 100 meter hurdles. She posted a personal-best time of 13.06 at the NCAA East Regional, placing second in the regional and guaranteeing her seed for this week's championship.

The semifinals are scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. EST on Wednesday. Results will be posted here as quickly as possible after the event.
