VILLANOVA, Pa. - There has been a change made to the local television broadcast schedule for Saturday afternoon's men's basketball game with DePaul necessitated by the postponement of the annual Philadelphia tradition, the Mummers parade. The game will now air live in Philadelphia on WFMZ (Channel 69) at 2:00 p.m. and be broadcast on tape delay on WPHL (My 17) at approximately 5:00 p.m.
The contest was originally scheduled to air live on WPHL at 2:00 p.m. But when the Mummers parade was postponed by rain on New Year's Day until this Saturday, a scheduling conflict arose.
"We appreciate that all the parties involved, including the BIG EAST Conference office, WPHL, WFMZ and ESPN Regional Television were able to work together on short notice to come up with a resolution," stated Villanova director of athletics Vince Nicastro. "The Mummers Parade is a Philadelphia institution and we understand it is an important programming element for WPHL. At the same time, we wanted to make it possible for Villanova and Philadelphia fans to see the game live. This is a solution which serves all parties."
The game will also be available to ESPN "Full Court" package subscribers.
