LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Final Results

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-- Senior co-captain Steve Arnold (Langhorne, Pa.) fired a round of 71 (-1) to post the only below par round by a Villanova player at the tournament, and the Wildcats finished in a tie for ninth place out of 12 teams as the BIG EAST Championship concluded on Tuesday at the Cardinal Club. Villanova finished the tournament with team scores of 306-300-300=906 (+42) to match Seton Hall in the team standings.

In the final round on Tuesday, Arnold birdied four of his first nine holes and made the turn at four-under (32). Sophomore Brett Bergman (Pittsburgh, Pa.) carded an even-par 72 to finish strong and sophomore Doug Stadler (Wexford, Pa.) shot a 78. Senior co-captain Brock Bergman (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and sophomore Andrew Alexander (Rochester, Minn.) both came in with a 79 on Tuesday.

Arnold tied for 19th place in the field of 60 golfers and was just six strokes over par over 54 holes, turning in a three-day score of 222 (75-76-71). Brett Bergman tied for 32nd place with a combined total of 226 (80-74-72) and brother Brock tied for 43rd place with a score of 230 (77-74-79). Stadler and Alexander each tied for 46th place with combined totals of 232.

Tournament host Louisville won the team title by 12 strokes over Notre Dame and finished with a winning score of 20-under-par 844. The Cardinals' Daryl Fathauer claimed individual medalist honors by two strokes and scored 71-68-70=209 (-7). Louisville had four of the top five individual players in the field.

Villanova concludes its season in two weeks when it plays in the Rutherford Intercollegiate tournament hosted by Penn State.
