Wildcats Announce 2008 Football Schedule

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova University head football coach Andy Talley today announced the 2008 Wildcat schedule. The Wildcats will play an 11-game slate in 2008, including eight Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) games and three non conference contests.

The season will kickoff on Saturday, August 30, with a trip to Morgantown, W.Va. to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers. West Virginia is coming off a 48-28 defeat of Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. Following a bye week, Villanova will host Lehigh in the home opener on Sept. 13. The Wildcats will finish the non conference portion of the schedule on Sept. 20 with a game versus crosstown rival Penn at Franklin Field.

Villanova will begin conference play on Sept. 27 versus the Richmond Spiders. The other three home conference games include James Madison (Oct. 25), New Hampshire (Nov. 8) and Towson (Nov. 15). The four road CAA contests will be at William & Mary (Oct. 4), Rhode Island (Oct. 18), Northeastern (Nov. 1) and Delaware (Nov. 22).

The Wildcats return 17 starters from last year's team that tallied a 7-4 overall record and a 5-3 CAA mark.
