VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (25-15, 12-25, 15-25, 25-27) decision to Georgetown on Sunday afternoon's senior day at Jake Nevin Fiedhouse.

With the score tied at 7-7 in the first set, Andersen found the floor on back-to-back kills, but the Hoyas responded as the score tied again at 10 each. Five consecutive errors from Georgetown helped a 6-2 Villanova run and the Hoyas called a timeout trailing, 16-12. Gulyas served five points after the break, including three aces to help the Wildcats extend their lead to 21-12 and force Georgetown to use its final timeout. A kill from sophomore Maria Nolan gave the Wildcats set point at 24-15 and Andersen found the kill for the 25-15 win.

Though Villanova got on the board first in the second frame, the Hoyas quickly established a 13-7 lead and the Wildcats used a timeout. The Hoyas offense continued to attack and Villanova fell, 25-12.

The Wildcats led 7-4 in the third set, but Georgetown went on a 9-2 run to take a 16-9 lead as the Hoyas went on to win, 25-15.

Villanova was on the board first in the fourth set and used two kills and an ace from Gulyas to grab a 13-11 lead. The Hoyas called timeout after Nolan found the floor for a kill and the Wildcats extended their lead to 19-15 after the break. An error from `Nova had Georgetown creep to within one point, 19-18, but Mergen found the floor for a kill to hold on to the lead and send the Hoyas into a timeout. Georgetown scored three unanswered points to take its first lead of the set at 23-22, but Andersen connected for a kill to tie at 23. Andersen hit another kill to keep the set tied at 24 and the Wildcats regained the lead at 25-24 after senior Elysse Studzinski found the floor. The Hoyas responded to tie the set at 25 and would hang on to win, 27-25.

Villanova concluded its home season and will hit the road for the four remaining BIG EAST Matches. The Wildcats will head to West Virginia on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7:00 p.m.
