Final Stats

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova Wildcats (1-6) got the game's first two goals but Saint Joseph's got rolling midway through the first half and went on to post an 18-4 victory over the Wildcats in a women's lacrosse game played here at Villanova Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

Rachel Lasda opened the scoring for Villanova at 28:34 when she converted a free position shot at 28:34 and Samantha McKillip followed 21 seconds later with her own goal off a free position shot for the Wildcats to make it 2-0 in the early stages of the contest. However, Saint Joseph's knotted matters at two on a pair of Helene Tursi goals at 22:23 and 10:55.

Senior Taryn McKenna pushed the Wildcats back in front off a feed from Erica Rybinski at 8:48 before Tursi picked up another score for the Hawks to knot matters at 3-3 with 7:50 left in the first half. The Hawks then got three goals in the final 2:53 of the first half to grab a 6-3 advantage at the break.

Carly Miller pulled VU to within 6-4 when she tallied an unassisted goal at 29:25 but that would end the scoring for the Wildcats on this day. An Alli McDonald goal at 27:57 was followed by another Tursi goal 22 seconds later to make it 8-4. Saint Joseph's would score 10 more goals in the period en route to the win, evening their record at 4-4.

Tursi ended the day with seven goals for Saint Joseph's. The Hawks owned a 39-21 advantage in shots and an 18-11 edge in ground balls.

Villanova returns to action this Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. when it hosts Wagner at Villanova Stadium.
