VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova volleyball squad has earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2008-09 season, the AVCA announced this week.
The Wildcats were one of 409 teams selected for the award, an all-time high since the award was first given for the 1992-93 academic year. The award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed an excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average. 71 NCAA Division I teams received the award.
Last season, the volleyball team had a 3.474 cumulative grade point average, which was the second highest of all of the teams at Villanova.
