NEW YORK -- Following up a dominant weekend at the Villanova Classic, Wildcats sophomore
Campbell McKinnon was selected as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
It's the first major weekly award for the sophomore Wildcat who earned one weekly honor roll selection in her freshman season but was a preseason All-BIG EAST pick entering the 2025 campaign. The last major weekly winner for VU came in 2023 while the most recent OPOW was in September of 2022.
The middle blocker totaled 49 kills across three matches played, averaging 3.77 terminations per set in addition to four service aces and 11 blocks. McKinnon is the BIG EAST's individual leader in hitting percentage by more than 100 percentage points after hitting an incredible .580 over the weekend.
The Tennessee native earned Tournament MVP at the Villanova Classic after contributing a career-high 19 kills on .452 hitting against Yale, 17 terminations at a collegiate-best .750 clip versus High Point and adding 13 kills and five blocks opposite Fairfield.
McKinnon and the Wildcats will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon, heading to North Philadelphia to take on the Temple Owls at 4:00 p.m. from McGonigle Hall.
