2010 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships Begin Friday

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The 2010 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships will open Friday, March 12 at the Randall Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.

The Wildcat women are sending a strong group to compete and are looking to come back with some individual titles.

Senior Nicole Schappert will compete in the mile run and enters the meet ranked fourth in the nation. The preliminaries are set for 5:10 p.m. CT on Friday with the finals being held 6:25 p.m. CT on Saturday.

Villanova has the second ranked DMR squad in the nation. Schappert, sophomore Christie Verdier, freshman Ariann Neutts and junior Sheila Reid ran a qualifying time of 11:02.83 and are seeded behind the squad from Oregon. The DMR is a final-only event scheduled for Friday at 9:20 p.m. CT.

Four Wildcats have qualified in the 3,000m run. Reid ranks second overall just behind Lisa Koll from Iowa State. Sophomore Bogdana Mimic ranks fourth, while Schappert and junior Ali Smith are 12th and 17th, respectively. The 3,000m run is a finals-only event set for Saturday, March 13 at 8:10 p.m. CT.
