VILLANOVA, Pa. - The RV Villanova men's lacrosse team, fresh off a victory at the University of Delaware, aims to keep its winning ways alive when they host Philadelphia and former CAA rival No. 11/14 Drexel on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Villanova Stadium.
Villanova defeated Delaware on Saturday at Delaware Stadium, 11-8. The Wildcats were led by the offensive efforts of freshman Jack Rice (Baltimore, Md.) and sophomore Matt Bell (Serverna Park, Md.), who combined for a total of five goals and one assist in the victory.
Freshman Billy Hurley stepped up in a huge way for the Wildcats against the Blue Hens in his first career start, making 12 saves in the 11-8 win.
Drexel is on a six-game win streak after defeating Albany this past Saturday, 11-9, and are led by Scott Perri and Colin Ambler for their offensive statistics. Perri leads the team in goals (14) and is second in assists with 9. Ambler, a two-time captain and All-American candidate, has tallied 7 goals and 11 assists on the year for the Dragons.
In goal, Mark Manos has started all seven games for Drexel and holds a 6.41 goals against average and a 6.59 save percentage.
Following the Drexel game tomorrow night, Villanova will travel to upstate New York for a matchup against the Syracuse Orange on Monday, March 19th at 3 p.m.
