NEW YORK -- A 2-0 start in BIG EAST play meant more conference honors for the Wildcats as a trio of Villanovans earned weekly awards on Monday afternoon.
Anthony Wilson was selected as the league's Defensive Player of the Week,
George Glomb earned Specialist of the Week and
Luke Raymond picked up an Honor Roll accolade.
Wilson earned his second career DPOW honor after he made 11 saves between the pipes versus Denver, continuing his hot streak against the Pioneers with double-digit saves all three times he's played them. It's win number two of the year for the senior, his second straight week allowing seven goals or fewer and his second time this year with 10 or more saves.
Glomb won top specialist this week after capturing 13 of 18 faceoffs in the victory against No. 20 Denver, scooping up seven ground balls of his own to dominate the matchup in the middle of the field. The junior now has double digit faceoff wins in both of his weeks as VU's primary FOGO, accumulating 30 FO victories and 16 ground balls in the last two games.
Raymond picked up his team-high fifth BIG EAST accolade this year after the Maryland native paced the Wildcats yet again with four points on a hat trick and an assist in the Saturday afternoon victory over Denver.
Wilson, Glomb, Raymond and the Wildcats stay at home this week, hosting the Providence Friars on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. as part of Villanova's LAX Fest double header with the women's team.
