LOUISVILLE, K.Y. - Villanova men's lacrosse junior Jake Melchionni earned another national honor on Thursday, being named a Third Team All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) as part of its yearly awards release.
The New Jersey native put together a standout campaign, also claiming BIG EAST Specialist of the Year honors, a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST First Team and a spot on the Tewaaraton Award watch list, while earning weekly conference recognition five times throughout the season.
The Delbarton graduate paced the Wildcats with 32 caused turnovers and 67 ground balls, finishing sixth in the nation in caused turnovers per game.
Melchionni also received honorable mention recognition from the organization last year, earning a spot among eight long-stick midfielders honored.
