2010 Villanova Football Schedule

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova University head football coach Andy Talley today announced the 2010 Wildcat schedule. The National Champion Wildcats will play an 11-game slate in 2010, including eight Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) games and three non conference contests.

The season will kickoff on Friday, September 3, with the second annual Mayor's Cup game against the Temple Owls at Lincoln Financial Field. This is the second of four straight openers versus the Owls. The Wildcats won last year's inaugural Mayor's Cup battle over Temple with a thrilling 27-24 victory. Villanova will travel to Lehigh on Sept. 11, before returning to the Main Line for both the home and CAA opener against Towson on Sept. 18. The Wildcats will finish the non conference portion of the schedule on Sept. 25 with a home game versus crosstown rival and defending Ivy League champion Penn.

October begins with a rematch of last season's NCAA semifinal game when the Wildcats play at William & Mary on Oct. 2. After a bye week, Villanova travels to Maine on Oct. 16. The James Madison Dukes come to town for homecoming on Oct. 23 followed by a visit by the Richmond Spiders on Oct. 30.

Villanova will play two of its three November games on the road including dates at Rhode Island on Nov. 6 and at Delaware in the season finale on Nov. 20. The Wildcats final regular season home game is set for Nov. 13 against New Hampshire.

The Wildcats return 32 lettermen and 15 starters from last year's team that captured the program's first FCS National Championship with 23-21 win over the Montana Grizzlies.
