VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova water polo team held their last home games of the season this past Saturday versus MAAC Conference foe's Siena and Wagner. Despite the home pool advantage, the Wildcats fell in both matches 9-3 and 8-2, respectively.
Against Siena, Jen Soares led the Wildcats with two goals while freshman Hannah Ishida contributed a goal and an assist for the points in the game. Sara Kane also added another assist for Villanova.
Siena opened a 5-2 lead at intermission and never looked back. Jackie Crosby and Camille Norman led the way with Crosby scoring a game-high four goals, while Norman added five points including a pair of tallies.
In goal, Andrea Lafevers tallied five saves and four steals in the defeat. Jennifer Kissel registered 13 saves and a steal in the victory.
Against Wagner, Soares and freshman Lauren Peachey tallied goals for the Wildcats while Wagner's Natalie Pyrz and Laura Vanderbent each registered two goals for the Sea Hawks.
Wagner held Villanova scoreless for two periods before taking a 3-0 lead at halftime, but tacked on five goals in the second half for the 8-2 final.
Villanova will return to the pool this weekend when they face Wagner, Marist, St. Francis and Iona in MAAC Conference play.
