VILLANOVA, Pa. - Home and home encounters with Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Syracuse highlight the 2010-11 Men's Basketball BIG EAST opponents announced on Thursday by the conference office in Rhode Island.
The 2010-11 season will be the fourth consecutive one in which the 16 BIG EAST teams will play 18 conference games. Each school plays three opponents twice and all other foes once.
Villanova will face these nine BIG EAST teams at home in 2010-11: Cincinnati, Georgetown, Louisville, Marquette, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, St. John's, Syracuse and West Virginia.
The nine BIG EAST road games will take place at: Connecticut, DePaul, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Providence, Rutgers, Seton Hall, USF, and Syracuse.
The complete Villanova men's basketball schedule, including dates and venues, will be released in September.
The Wildcats spent every week of the 2009-10 regular season in the top 10 of both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today polls and finished with a 25-8 record. VU returns three starters and eight letter-winners from that unit, including seniors Corey Fisher, Corey Stokes and Antonio Pena.
