VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova women's basketball team is set to open the 2011-12 season on Friday at the Iona Tip-Off. The Wildcats will face Michigan State in the season opener at 1:45 p.m.

On Saturday, Villanova will face host Iona or North Carolina A&T depending on the outcome of that game. The Wildcats will play at either noon or 2:30 p.m.

Villanova lost just two players from last season and return eight to the floor. In 2010-11 the Wildcats compiled a 12-19 record and were 3-13 in the BIG EAST.

Head coach Harry Perretta is just two wins shy of his 600th career win, which he should reach early this season.
