VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova men's tennis team dropped a tough match to Sacred Heart on Sunday afternoon, hosting their first match of the 2011 season.
The Wildcats found success at the No. 3 doubles flight, with senior David Shaheen (Boca Raton, Fla.) and freshman Sean Peyton (Newport Beach, Calif.) defeating SHU's Miller and Syllo in dominating fashion, 8-0.
Senior Trenton Alenik (Las Vegas, Nev.) also claimed a win at No. 2 singles, defeating Nick Mazzarese, 6-1, 6-4 for the second Villanova win on the day.
The Wildcats will be back in action this coming Saturday, March 26th when they travel to Fairfield. Match time is scheduled for 10 a.m.
Doubles1. Alenik/O'Brien lost to Mazzarese/Kasyanou 8-62. Colonnese/Drosick lost to Conrad/Syer 8-33. Shaheen/Peyton defeated Miller/Syllo 8-0
Singles1. Dave Shaheen lost to Kirill Kasyanov 6-2,6-42. Trenton Alenik defeated Nick Mazzarese 6-1,6-43. Tom O'Brien lost to Mike Syer 7-6 (4), 6-24. Matt Colonnese lost to Cole Conrad 6-3, 6-35. Ryan Peyton defeated Chadd Sullo 7-6 (3), 6-26. Andrew Adler lost to Jake Miller 6-4, 6-3
