MERION STATION, Pa. — The Villanova men's tennis team wrapped up its second fall competition this past weekend, taking part in the Saint Joseph's Invitational from October 3–5.
In the Grey draw, Quincy Jones opened strong with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 win over Antonio Mateos in the first round. Kush Anand also advanced with an impressive straight-sets victory, 6-2, 6-3. Both Jones and Anand battled hard in their second-round matches but ultimately fell short. Justin Frattarelli and Ethan Carr were edged out in their opening-round contests.
The Wildcats had a standout showing in the Black draw, where Jack Sherner, Cameron Kruep, and Evan Ancu each made deep runs. The draw culminated in an all-Villanova final between Kruep and Sherner, with Kruep earning a hard-fought win to claim the title. In the White draw, Ryan Benoit advanced to the championship round before narrowly falling in the final.
In doubles play, Villanova continued its strong performance. In the Grey draw, the pairings of Sherner and Jones and Ethan Solop and Kruep both secured first-round victories. Solop and Kruep went on to reach the semifinals before being defeated in a competitive matchup.
