Final Stats

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Junior back Maddy Harding (4-12, 1-6 BIG EAST) scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season as the Villanova field hockey team shutout Georgetown (2-16, 0-7), 1-0, Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats ended a six-game losing streak with their first BIG EAST win of the season.

Harding scored 10 minutes into the game off a corner. Junior forward Jessica Swoboda sent the ball in, junior forward Leah High stopped it and Harding sent the ball to the back of the cage off a straight shot.

The Wildcats held the ball for the majority of the game and sent in seven shots on goal.

The Hoyas pushed offensively to start the second half, tallying five straight shots. However, most opportunities were blocked or went wide and Georgetown was unable to equalize. Only three of the Hoyas' shots were on goal.

In her second start of the season, senior goalkeeper Julia Todd made three saves, earning her first shutout and first win.

Villanova lead the game in shots, 16-12, and 9-6 in penalty corners.

The Wildcats play their last game of the season at Delaware Sunday at 1 p.m.
