VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova swimming & diving teams fell to two ranked Penn State squads Friday afternoon.

The Wildcat women took a 166-118 loss to the No. 17 Nittany Lions, while the men fell 191-96 to No. 19 Penn State.

The women's team started out with a third place finish in the 200 medley relay behind a 1:48.85 time with Colleen Lord, Kristen Haufler, Kaisla Kollanus and Sara Jurek.

Jessica Randolphtook second in the 200 freestyle with a 1:52.65, just .09 behind first-place finisher Chelsea VanderWeele from Penn State. Randolph also finished third in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.45).

Haufler finished third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.00 while Fiona Hardieplaced third in the 200 butterfly (2:05.29).

Kollanus took second in the 50 freestyle with a final time of 23.12, a new personal best.

Villanova women's swimmers swept the top three spots of the 100 freestyle with Katrin Heider (51.89), Jurek (52.25) and Randolph (52.58) taking the top slots. Wildcats also swept the 500 freestyle, with Emily Mayo (5:08.66), Mary Snyder (5:11.36) and Erin Merkle(5:16.00) taking that top three places.

Hardie and Kollanus finished first and second, respectively, in the 100 butterfly with final times of 57.33 and 58.43.

In the 400 IM, Jurek, Snyder and Mayo took the top times with a 4:33.37, 4:44.08 and 4:50.46.

The women's team finished the meet strong with the top-two finishes in the 200 freestyle relay. The first squad tapped the wall at 1:37.47 behind Kollanus, Jurek, Hardie and Heider. Claire Aksamit, Hayden Bumgardner, Haufler and Colleen Lordplaced second with a time of 1:43.10.

Michelle Halltook first on the 3 meter board with a score of 213.67. Hall also finished third in diving on the 1 meter board with a 191.02.

Chris Tamanini placed third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.79 while Ben Smithtook third in the 200 butterfly (1:54.00).

Jason Moyer finished third in the 100 freestyle with a 47.66. Harrison Rodts took the first top finish for the men with a 4:447.73 time in the 500 freestyle. Greg Cinoand Patrick Sullivan finished behind him with a 4:58.77 and 5:03.58, respectively.

The men continued their hot streak into the 100 butterfly, where Smith (51.32), Nikolai Tchobanov (56.69) and Ian Kleinsmith(56.77) took the top three spots.

Rodts also placed first in the 400 individual medley (4:22.63), followed by fellow Wildcats Tchobanov (4:31.00) and Ryan Murtha(4:36.69).

The men finished the night strong with the top two finishes in the 200 freestyle relay. The quad of Moyer, Grant, Smith and Michael Rodriguez finished first with a 1:28.16, followed by Cino, Murtha, Murphy Smithand Tchobanov (1:33.03).

In diving, Zach Romanovsky took third on the 1 meter board with a score of 185.78 while Robert Pattencame in fourth with a 166.45. Romanovsky and Patten also placed third and fourth on the 3 meter board with a 168.22 and 139.35.

The Villanova teams are back in the pool tomorrow against Providence for the final home meet of the season. Diving begins at 10 a.m., followed by swimming at noon.
